BKNIX Peering Forum 2026 Welcomes Global Internet Community to Advance Regional Connectivity and Resilience
The THNIC Foundation proudly hosted the BKNIX Peering Forum & ThaiNOG Day 2026, held on 25–26 May 2026 at Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together more than 480 participants from the internet community, including over 350 local participants from Thailand and more than 130 international attendees from across the region and beyond. The forum reflected the strong collaboration between Thailand’s digital ecosystem and global industry partners, creating opportunities to strengthen local internet infrastructure, knowledge sharing, and regional connectivity cooperation.
Held in Bangkok, the forum marked the 10th edition of the annual gathering as it continued to serve as one of the region’s leading platforms for collaboration among Internet Service Providers (ISPs), cloud providers, content delivery networks (CDNs), academic networks, regulators, and digital infrastructure leaders.
Opening remarks were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Surasak Sanguanpong, a THNIC Foundation board member and contributor to Thailand’s internet and research network development. He highlighted the importance of resilient and locally interconnected internet infrastructure in supporting Thailand’s digital stability and economic growth.
“In today’s interconnected world, the internet is not only a technology platform, but a critical foundation of modern society,” he stated. “Strengthening local interconnection helps ensure that communities, businesses, and essential digital services can continue operating even during disruptions affecting international connectivity.”
The forum also featured a keynote speech by Marc Bruyere titled “A Decade of Programmable IXPs: A Historical Overview”, which covered the evolution of programmable Internet Exchange Points and modern interconnection technologies.
A major theme of this year’s forum focused on strengthening domestic internet exchange and reducing reliance on long-distance international routing, with a strong emphasis on internet resilience. Discussions highlighted how local traffic exchange can improve latency, efficiency, and network stability, while helping critical digital services remain operational during submarine cable outages or international connectivity disruptions.

Supported by the THNIC Foundation, BKNIX continues to play a key role in Thailand’s digital ecosystem as a neutral and trusted internet exchange platform. The exchange has now reached a peak traffic volume exceeding 420 Gbps and connects 79 member networks across Bangkok and Chiang Mai, including leading ISPs, cloud providers, CDNs, and Research and Education Networks.
The forum also featured distinguished speakers and industry experts from across the international internet community, including representatives from global network organizations and technical communities, fostering dialogue on peering, infrastructure resilience, cloud connectivity, and the future of regional internet development.
As Thailand continues to strengthen its role as a regional digital hub, the BKNIX Peering Forum & ThaiNOG Day 2026 reinforced the importance of open collaboration and shared infrastructure in building a more stable, efficient, and resilient internet for the future.
The success of the BKNIX Peering Forum & ThaiNOG Day 2026 would not have been possible without the collaboration and generous support of our sponsors and partners, including ETIX, Nokia, ReadyIDC, JPIX, International Gateway, ITEL Global, Flexoptix, AWS, Telehouse, NTT DATA, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Open DC, SYMPHONY, SG.GS, NBTC, Equinix, APNIC, TCC Technology Group, SEIKO, BBIX, Zenlayer, Campana, ICANN, Internet Society, .TH, NSRC and KONDOTTHAI.
