The Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC) joined the online discussion, “Real Websites, Real People, Real Businesses: Building Digital Trust in the AI Era”, organized by the Thai Webmaster and Online Media Association (TWA) on 27 August 2026. The session brought together perspectives on the importance of building trust in the digital environment amid the rapid development of AI technology.

Dr. Pensri Arunwatanamongkol, Executive Director of the Foundation, participated in the discussion, sharing insights on domain names, website credibility, and security, alongside Dr. Udomtipok Phaikaset, President of the Thai E-Commerce Association and President of the Thai Personal Data Protection Auditors and Consultants Association, and Thanop Somprasong, President of the Thai Webmaster and Online Media Association. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Khonteeneung Saenghiruna, Vice President of the Thai Webmaster and Online Media Association.

As AI makes it increasingly easy and fast to create websites and digital content, Digital Trust has become an increasingly important issue. Key concerns include fake websites, brand impersonation, and the use of website names that closely resemble those of legitimate organizations. These practices can cause confusion and potentially lead to harming the public and internet users.

Domain Names: A Foundation for Digital Trust

One of the key topics discussed was the role of Domain Names as a foundation for establishing an organization’s identity and credibility on the internet. A domain name is more than simply a website address; it is also a digital asset that reflects an organization’s identity and professionalism. For Thailand’s country-code domains (.th), registration involves verification and documentation in accordance with established requirements. This process is one of the mechanisms that helps enhance credibility and reduce the risk of domain names being misused.

As the administrator of the .th and .ไทย domain name systems, THNIC plays a role in developing and maintaining Thailand’s country-code domain name infrastructure while promoting clear and trusted digital identities for businesses, organizations, and government agencies.

TH AI Passport Case Study Highlights the Importance of Government Domains

The discussion also highlighted the TH AI Passport as a case study demonstrating the importance of selecting appropriate domain names for government projects and services. The panel discussed potential risks associated with domains that could allow impersonation or the creation of lookalike domain names designed to deceive the public.

The discussion also suggested that government projects consider using domains under .go.th or .ไทย, making it easier for the public to identify and verify the source of a website and build confidence in government digital services.

Strengthening Security with DNSSEC

In addition to establishing trust through domain names, the security of the DNS infrastructure is another important component of Digital Trust. The session also covered DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions), a technology designed to help protect against the falsification or alteration of DNS information in transit.

THNIC provides DNSSEC services for the domain name system to support greater security for websites and online services and contribute to strengthening the reliability of Thailand’s internet infrastructure.

Building Digital Trust Requires Collaboration Across All Sectors

Building trust in the digital environment depends on more than technology alone. It requires collaboration across all sectors, including establishing verifiable digital identities, choosing appropriate domain names, maintaining system security, protecting personal data, and using AI responsibly.

THNIC is committed to supporting the development of Thailand’s internet infrastructure and promoting the use of .th and .ไทย as part of a trusted, secure, and verifiable digital identity. This will help individuals, businesses, and organizations make confident use of digital technologies and services.

The webinar provided another opportunity for THNIC to exchange knowledge and perspectives with organizations and experts from various sectors, contributing to efforts to strengthen Digital Trust and build a trusted digital ecosystem for Thailand in the AI era.
