THNIC Academy Partners with Surin Office for Skill Development to Organize “Network Training for Technicians” Course to Empower Community Development
THNIC Academy, in collaboration with the Surin Office for Skill Development, organized a course on “Network Training for Technicians” from 19 – 21 February 2026 in Surin Province. This course aims to advance the “Net2Home Surin Model” by developing a local internet infrastructure prototype that promotes sustainable community self-reliance.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Sukiti Thongkham, Director of the Surin Office for Skill Development, presided over the event and delivered welcoming remarks, encouraging participants to strengthen their professional skills and apply their knowledge in practical settings. Mr. Parkpoom Tripatana, Director of THNIC Academy, introduced the mission of the THNIC Foundation and outlined the objectives of the program, which focus on equipping participants with fundamental knowledge of community networks. The course aims to enable participants to apply their knowledge in daily life and professional work, as well as expand its benefits to their communities in the future.
The training featured expert instructors from the THNIC Foundation, Net2Home Co., Ltd. (Social Enterprise), and BKNIX Co., Ltd., who delivered both theoretical and hands-on sessions. Key topics included basic internet service provision, fundamentals of community network communications, network equipment installation and connectivity, signal testing and troubleshooting, deployment of wireless mesh network technology, and cybersecurity awareness.
An additional session gave a demonstration of Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) technology, developed by researchers from the Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The demonstration presented solutions for data communication in areas with limited network infrastructure.
Participants also attended a session on the Net2Home initiative, launched by Net2Home Co., Ltd. (Social Enterprise), which serves as a model for developing community networks. Initially implemented in Tak province, the project aims to provide affordable internet access and empower communities to manage their own networks sustainably.
Furthermore, Mr. Prawet Raseethong, Assistant Manager of the Government Savings Bank, Sangkha Branch, delivered a talk on financial management, income planning, and access to funding sources for technicians, supporting their pathway toward sustainable careers.
This training program not only enhanced participants’ technical knowledge and skills but also raised awareness of the vital role of internet network systems in community development. It provided a platform for close interaction and knowledge exchange between participants and experts, laying a strong foundation for the long-term development of community digital infrastructure.
